What Is The Most Common Tooth Infection? Some dental infections are popular and exist from childhood to adulthood. Just like all the parts of the body, teeth, tongue, and gums also get infections. Also, like other infections, some oral infections are more severe than the rest. When you aim yourself with the knowledge that is the only time you will understand their signs so that you can prevent dental infections. Here is one of the most common tooth infections.

Tooth Abscess

A tooth abscess is whereby an infected tooth forms a pocket of pus everywhere on the root. Anyone, including the elderly and children, is at risk of getting it. Having one means that it will only get worse if you are not put under the right treatment. An endodontic or a dentist is the only one who can prescribe the correct treatment for this infection. If treatment is not done on time, the infection spreads to other parts of the body, such as the head, neck, and many more.

Causes Of Abscess Tooth Infection

Although the outside part of a tooth seems to be very hard, the inner side is usually very soft. Sometimes, a tooth abscess can be caused by various factors such as a cracked tooth, gum disease or tooth decay, or a deep cavity. When the factors are not treated, they end up causing two types of abscess infection known as: periodontal abscess and periapical abscess. It is common for people to get one type of abscess, but in some cases, one tooth can be affected by both types at the same time.

Symptoms Of Abscess Tooth Infection

Some patients report a tooth ache, but some do not. A sharp pain is felt when pressure is put on that particular tooth. Other symptoms of the infection are gum redness, fever, puffy gums, and bad taste, among others.
